House Britz is an efficient architectural house design. The house plan is designed to take most advantage of the northern sun. The open plan living areas are situated on the ground floor while the 4 en-suite bedrooms are on the first floor off a private open plan pyjama lounge.

The open plan living area opens onto a covered patio that features a built-in braai and an automated horizontal louvered roof that opens up in wither to allow deep light penetration into the house while it is kept closed in summer.

Aesthetically, the house was envisioned as a modern renovated barn. The ground floor face brick is left visible while the top metal sheeting roof wraps down around the back wall of the top floor with very little window openings to allow for maximum energy efficiency and comfort. To the north the open plan living area and the top floor bedrooms have large windows in order to allow for maximum winter and minimum summer sunlight penetration.
